In the first couple of pages of Night, Elie Wiesel and Moishe the Beadle talk about why they pray. Elie, taken aback by this question, did not give Moishe the Beadle an answer to why he prays. Unlike Elie, I do not pray always and to be honest, I only pray when told to. Now I'm only saying this because I know I will not be judged. I am not a full "believer" of Christ, I am pretty much agnostic. Agnostic is a person who believes that nothing is known or can be known of the existence or nature of God or of anything beyond material phenomena; a person who claims neither faith nor disbelief in God. I do not find it to be necessary to pray 24/7. Like Elie later on in the book, I question why bad things would happen if God really does exist. Yes, when I was smaller I did pray practically 24/7 but as I soon got older and saw how the world really is, my belief in him began to fade away, and I began to question his existence and not really believe in him. So, to answer the question of when I pray or why, I only pray when told to and to be frank, I don't have a good reason to.
